School Supply Donation

Local Contractor Announces School Supply Donation Program

Nailman Construction llc of Rockland, Ma. Recently began delivery of much needed school supplies to a number of local schools, daycare programs and various community programs.

Rockland, MA. May 1, 2009:  Nailman Construction of Rockland, Ma. has announced they have begun delivering school supply donations to the local schools this week as part of their School Supply Donation Program.  According to Philip Wood, the manager &co- owner of the construction firm, “The time was right to give the schools a little extra help”.

Mr. Wood said they usually help the community in different ways depending on the current needs.  About a decade ago they donated roof repairs to the Rockland School Department in an effort to help save some of the teachers that were threatened with layoffs.  This time we decided to do something that more directly benefited the students.  We all know that everyone is seeing a lot of belt tightening and this near the end of the school year most school budgets have been exhausted.  The problem is the kids still need paper and pencils.  “My wife, Terri & I talked and decided this was a need that we could help with” said Mr. Wood.  “We went out and purchased a couple truckloads of supplies that we knew the school systems needed desperately.  Then we divided them in to assorted cases that were appropriate for each location we distributed the supplies to.” he continued.

Some of the supplies that have been distributed include: about 30 cases of copy paper, colored paper, pens & pencils, crayons, colored markers, white glue, glue sticks, notebooks & composition books, planning pads, flash cards, maps of the USA & the world, colored markers, staplers, paper cutters, colored hilighters, safety scissors and more.

A lot of the paper we got at a discounted price was legal sized and larger, so we took it to the South Shore Vocational School in Hanover and spoke with the graphics arts department.  They gladly cut the paper to standard copy size and repackaged it for us.  They were thrilled to be able to help and the students we spoke with were genuinely excited to be helping the cause as well.

The schools and programs that have received supplies so far include: Rockland Memorial Park School, Jefferson School, Estin School & The Rockland Community Center.  Through the youth services director, the supplies will be spread out to help the Youth Commission, Rockland Daycare program, Council on Aging, North River Collaborative, the WIC program & the Head Start Program.

According to Terri Wood, co-owner of Nailman Construction llc, “We really believe that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.  We need to always support the education of our children in every way possible.  This is such a small gesture, we are happy to help.  We hope others will follow our lead and help in whatever ways they are able as well.”

Nailman Construction llc is a Rockland based firm that has been in business for nearly 20 years.  They build custom homes & do remodeling of residential and light commercial properties.

They also have a renewable energy division involved in Solar Systems and Geothermal heating & cooling systems
